Inaugural Youth Baseball Network Championship is in the Books

Inaugural Youth Baseball Network Championship is in the Books

The Youth Baseball Network hosted its inaugural Championship on August 19-22 in family-friendly Branson, Missouri.

The 2015 AAU 12u National Champions - Collier Tigers from Naples, Florida - represented AAU Baseball in the event.  The Tigers finished in 4th place against very strong competition. Members of the AAU Baseball Committee were on site to support the event as well.

What is this event?

The YOUTH BASEBALL NETWORK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP (YBNNC) is anticipated to become the preeminent youth baseball national tournament in the country.  The tournament will bring the youth baseball Industry together by featuring multiple major youth baseball organizations’ 12U National Champions vying for the crown of ‘true’ youth baseball national champion.

Five major youth baseball organizations, along with a host Branson area all-star team, participated in the initial event which is slated to become annual.  The organizations sending their 12U National Champions to Branson in 2015 were:  American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC); Amateur Athletic Union (AAU); Continental Amateur Baseball Association (CABA); Dizzy Dean Baseball, and National Amateur Baseball Federation (NABF).  Additional organizations will join the Championship in 2016.

The tournament ended with a bang during the “if” game of the double-elimination final. The Academy Select Sun Devils from Dallas, Texas (CABA) defeated the AABC national Champions, PL Siege, from Pembroke Lakes, Florida 15-13 to win the first Youth Baseball Network National Championship. The lead kept changing as both teams came from behind several times.

One aspect that is particularly outstanding about this event is that the teams are very heavily subsidized for travel and housing. Their housing is provided at no cost, and the travel stipend covers nearly all the air transportation expense.

The Road to Branson for the AAU goes through the AAU Grand National Championship in Orlando, Florida. To get your team’s shot at this tournament, go to www.aaubaseball.org and check out the Grand Nationals for 2016 in mid-June.
