The 2013 AAU Super Showcase packed Court 1 at the HP Fieldhouse Thursday night for the anticipated match-up between Houston Hoops and Each 1 Teach 1. Both teams not only play in the prestigious 40 team Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, better known as the Nike EYBL or ‘The Circuit”, but are two of the top teams in the league. E1T1 is the 2013 Nike EYBL Champion and Houston Hoops finished in the Final 8.
The game lived up the anticipation, drawing a huge crowd which included college coaches from all divisions lining the baselines on both ends of the court. They were in attendance to watch 9 of the ESPN Top 100 compete and showcase their skills. In a close up-tempo game Joel Berry & Grayson Allen knocked down free throws in the last 30 seconds to seal the six point win for E1T1 70-64.
Top scorers for the Hoops were Justin Jackson and Justise Winslow, both with 18, and Kelly Oubre with 14. E1T1 was led by top scorer Joel Berry with 22, with D’Angelo Russell contributing 14 and Grayson Allen with 11 points.

Behind Jackson, Oubre, & Winslow for Houston Hoops started the first quarter strong taking advantage of their length and athleticism in the open court and on the break. Hoops gave the crowd a show in the first quarter with a handful of dunks and highlight plays.
Starting the second quarter down by 3, E1T1 locked-in on defense and really slowed down the Hoops trio of Jackson, Oubre & Winslow. The E1T1 offense produced a balanced attack will 6 players scoring in the quarter. Highly ranked 2015 Alex Owens stepped up and hit some timely shots to bring E1T1 within one. When the buzzer sounded halftime, Houston Hoops had control of the lead, 33-31.
Joel Berry broke out in the third quarter, leading E1T1 to a 37-35 lead. Both teams traded buckets for the last two minutes of the quarter, ending it with E1T1 in the lead, 51-46.
Behind the play of Justice Winslow, Houston Hoops fights back, gaining 8 points in the fourth quarter, outscoring E1T1 to reclaim the lead 54-53. The one point lead would be brief and the last lead for the Hoops squad. Grayson Allen hit 5 of 7 free throws down the stretch to hold off the Hoops comeback, ending the game with a final Score of 70-64, E1T1.
