All Ohio Red topped Team Charlotte 44-42 in the 11th Grade Super Showcase at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky in the second of two Super Showcase games recorded for television broadcast.Games were recorded for playback on the Universal Sports Network on August 1, 2014 from 3PM to 9PM.
Team Charlotte’s Derek Farquharson led all scorers with 15 points, while Ahmad Ali Wagner led All Ohio Red with 11 points.
Jordan Dartis knocked down a pair of three-pointers, and Esa Ahmad added four points to give All Ohio Red a 17-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Team Charlotte outscored Ohio Red 8-1 to start the second quarter knotting score at 18 on a Ryan Kowalski three with just over four minutes to play in the quarter. All Ohio Red took a five point lead with just under 15 seconds left in the half, but Team Charlotte’s Devin Cooper drilled a three-pointer at the buzzer to make the score 23-21 at the half.
Team Charlotte’s Derrick Farquharson took over in the third quarter, scoring nine points to give Charlotte a 37-35 lead at the end of three quarters.
Lysander Bracey knocked down a three pointer to open the fourth quarter, and Marcus Wesley scored a layup in the paint to give Team Charlotte a 42-35 advantage prompting an All Ohio Red timeout. Following the timeout, All Ohio Red scored seven unanswered points to tie the game at 42-42 on a nice post move by Wagner, and took a 44-42 lead on a Esa Ahmad layup with 1:07 to play.
Team Charlotte’s Kowalski missed the go-ahead three pointer forcing a foul on the other end. Macio Teague missed the front end of the one-and-one giving Team Charlotte a shot with 5.9 seconds remaining, but couldn’t get a shot off after the inbounds pass as All Ohio Red escaped with the win.
